What is Dancing into Dreamland?
Dancing into Dreamland(DID) is an annual fundraiser hosted by the Friends of Dreamland(FOD), a nonprofit dedicated to restoring our historic ballroom to it’s former glory. In it’s first years, DID was held at the Arkansas Governor's Mansion. 2012 marked the first year the event was held in the Dreamland Ballroom.
These days, patrons show up in festive attire to our 9th street location in downtown Little Rock to eat, drink, and dance in the beautiful Dreamland Ballroom atop the Flag and Banner building and be swept back in time to the days of Louie Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald, all while celebrating the year’s accomplishments and donating to FOD’s mission. The evening contains a Silent Auction, an art exhibit, and the main event: a diverse and compelling professional dance competition of bachata, ballet, bolero, theatrical dance, jazz, cha-cha, tango, and so much more. The night’s familiar cast of emcees guide you through the fun-filled dance competition. A star-studded panel of judges select a winner from the competitors who are awarded a cash prize and audience members text in their favorite performers for a People’s Choice award. The dance floor is then opened up for continued celebration.
Heavy hors d'oeuvres and a donation bar are provided. Six and eight top tables, as well as box seating are for sale and these donors are considered sponsors for the evening. General admission tickets are also available. Festivities start at 7:00 PM and the dance competition starts at 8.

DID isn’t the only way to contribute to Friends of Dreamland. Pave the Way for future generations to enjoy this amazing place! By donating to our Pave the Way campaign, you’ll be gifted an inscribed brick that will inlay into the entryway sidewalk, immortalizing your support of this 100-year-old fixture for generations to come. Go to www.dreamlandballroom.org/pavetheway to donate and learn more.
OR try the Cooperate Matching Campaign. Arkansas Flag and Banner (Flagnadbanner.com) is teaming up with the Friends of Dreamland to match every dollar donated in 2022. With this donation, you’ll join the National Parks Service, Flagandbanner.com, and Friends of Dreamland in completing the ADA work started in 2018.
Whichever way you choose to give, all proceeds will go to creating a better and more beautiful building and towards educating the public about the history of the 9th street district. With your support we can preserve the relics of the past, learn from them, and create a better future for downtown Little Rock and all of Arkansas!
